This morning, when prompted, I raised my cross for the reading and hymn and then put it in my shirt pocket. I brought it back to my room, took it out, threw it on my desk, and then put my sweats on and crawled into bed for a nap.
When I woke up, I got to thinking about how much school work I had to do, and before I knew it, I was in a rumination cycle (see previous post about Staying Strong). And I was worked up again, and before I knew it I was on the verge of tears. Not about schoolwork itself, but about a lot of things.
And then I lifted my head from my hands and right there, amidst my giant pile of research and mess of homework, there was the cross. Right where I had thrown it.
And then I realized... Everything is okay. Because of that cross.
I may have to face a lot in my life right now, but, God will carry me through.
So I took the cross off of my messy desk to take this picture, but, here it is.
Sometimes we want God to come into our life as a rescuing King- but then we get discouraged because we think "There He Goes"- Reality is, He did His work- He died on the cross to save us, and that's all that matters. He provides exactly what we need, and we can find comfort knowing that God sent His son, and because of His death on the cross we have what we need. And we can be assured He is our King and our Redeemer.
Lord, help me this week, the week where we remember your passion, death, and suffering, I keep my eyes on the cross. Help that cross see me through everything. Amen.
Blessings For Today!
-Receiving forgiveness by receiving the sacrament of Holy Communion this morning
-Singing both of my favorite Palm Sunday hymns- All Glory Laud And Honor, and Hosanna Loud Hosanna
-A Chat with a great friend
-"I would rather regret something I did rather than something I didn't do."
-Writing a lesson plan about jelly beans
-A long time practicing the organ- a great "escape!"
-Holding onto that cross and being reassured Jesus has everything taken care of.
Along with your regular prayers, would you please pray for healing for my foot? I don't really know what's wrong. I think something is sprained or perhaps worse, but I'm going to wait to go home to see a doctor. Either that, or I'm hoping the pain subsides before then and it heals itself. I can barely stand to walk/put weight down on it. I don't know what I did to it.
Definitely resound with the first part word for word - I got home from church, put the cross on the desk, and went straight to bed. I didn't even bother with the sweats though.
ReplyDeleteWe sung All Glory Laud and Honour too - I agree, I love that one. I particularly loved it because it was one of only two that I actually knew yesterday. But unfortunately my throat's going too now so I couldn't really sing. Sad times :(
I will definitely be praying for your foot too. Sounds bad though- can you definitely not see someone this week though?
