Okay, here's another Light in Darkness analogy...
My room turns completely pitch black when all the lights are off. I think it's because I live in the basement of the building. Anyway, on my bed I have a fleece blanket.
Well, fleece blankets have a lot of static electricity. Normally, you can't really see static electricity.
Unless, it's really really dark.
Accidentally running my hand over the blanket really fast produced this bright spark. I kept doing it, and made all kinds of light. Light that I would not have seen had the lights in the room on.
In our darkest days, Jesus Christ is that light of static electricity. Sometimes, it takes darkness to make Him visible to us. We would never have seen how much we needed Him unless we are stuck in darkness.
If we're just living in light, thinking "I can take things from here." "Thanks God, but I don't need you right now" we don't really understand how much we do need Him.
And then, the lights go out, and we're scared. Terrified. But His light is there. And that static electricity was bright. Wow.
Okay, so maybe I'm bad at making analogies. But it was comforting to think about before I laid my head down to sleep.
Bad at making analogies? ARE YOU KIDDING???
ReplyDeleteUntil I got to that very last line I was all prepared for my comment to be "wow wow wow wow wow love that analogy!!"
Seriously - is that true about the blanket?!?! I have a fleece blanket (I think!), I'm now very excited to try this if I can make my room dark enough!!
Haha, well thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's true about the blanket... I'm pretty sure it's fleece... all I know is it's white and it's really fuzzy....
That's so awesome, Dylan.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it probably is a fleece blanket... they harbor static like no other.
