Satisfied.

As I've quoted the book, "Have a Little Faith" before, I want to quote it tonight as a preamble to my list of things I've been thankful for...

"The secret to happiness...be satisfied and be grateful."

What am I satisfied with and grateful for?

-A successful week of VBS, and the comments that have followed up. Many "thank yous" and compliments. I am proud of a job well done, and so happy that there were so many children who were not members of our church who showed up to learn about Jesus.

-A great eye dr. appt. today. I am getting a new style of contacts (ones that might be a little bit more comfortable), and a new pair of glasses with a new style of frames! I am anxious to get them in about a week!

-New books. As you all know, I love reading. I cannot wait to take on a pile of new books that I have bought to read, now that I have about a month to get it all done before school starts again, and my amount of free time is limited.

-Comments left on my blog. I am so grateful for all of the positive, encouraging comments that pop up in my inbox. You all are awesome for being so supportive!

-I haven't picked one out yet, but my plans for the rest of the evening are to curl up and watch a movie. All electronics put on another floor of the house- it's just time for me to relax and focus.

-Isn't it funny how sometimes you find something you aren't really looking for? I had an organ prelude on the hymn, "My Hope is Built", which is a hymn I'm playing across services tomorrow and Sunday, and I wanted to use that prelude. It's been years since I last saw it. I have a TON of organ music. Cabinets, drawers, and boxes full of it. I looked through the places I thought it would be, and it was not there, so I gave up. Today, I was looking for pieces to use for the installation service I'm playing for next weekend, and there it was! A basket full of music where I never would have put it, and there it was. So now I get to use it this weekend.

-Getting organized. I have a lot of stuff! And I need to start deciding which things will stay here in storage, and which will go to school... A long process has begun.

I am happy because I am satisfied, and grateful for all of the above, and all of my other blessings.

I am happy because I am satisfied, even in the aftermath of an illness that changed my life.

I am happy because I am nice and love people, even if they don't return the same sentiments.

It's great finding satisfaction. Sometimes, like that piece of music, we find it in places we least expect it. When you aren't looking, there it is.

And you're surprised. But it's a good kind of surprised.

  1. I am thankful to have this song stuck in my head now. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand!

    Thank you:)
