So I made a list of things I need to get done this weekend.
Here's what it looks like:
Print off earth worm resources and begin developing unit plan
Write thank you notes for scholarships
Develop solid plans for first observation Wednesday.
Begin credential file and contact first 3 references.
Begin work on Teacher Work Sample and develop a pre-assessment tool.
Get books about feelings from Library for feelings unit.
Schedule dinner get togethers with the people I've promised to eat with.
Turn in insurance form
Print off resources from Dr. Jean.org
Contact Dr. S about author hosting
Email dr. U about Monday lunch
Write thank you note to Elaine.
Read professional development e-mails.
LESSON PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK.
Curriculum mapping for next seven weeks.
Get gas.
Get items for lunch next week.
E-mail Prof. R. about playing in his church.
E-mail Mr. W about supervision specifics
I looked it over and I said "WOW. How am I going to get it all done?"
And then I realized...
Where was God on the list? Where was the most important thing?
It wasn't on my list. So I added it. In times like these, when we have the most to do, we need the most time with God.
So I added prayer, devotion, worship into my schedule.
And suddenly, things feel a bit lighter. 1 Peter 5:7.
I put at the bottom in big bold letters:
DO YOUR BEST AND GIVE GOD THE REST!
What about you, what's on your list, and have you put God there?
Today has been amazing- it had its challenges, but it was great. I'll save details for another day. But, one major blessing was having Jennifer from the cafeteria coming up to me and saying, "I know you like chocolate, so I made this for you:"
SHE IS AMAZING!

I've been pushing devotionals aside a bit lately. I need to write myself more notes or something to keep myself accountable, maybe.
ReplyDeleteMy RA just baked our floor cookies. Just because. People like that are THE BEST! :D
Way to go, Dylan. Love this simple revelation you had... how easy it is to be busy busy busy and not give God the time He deserves. I am moved into my new place of residence. Tomorrow is orientation & the adventure begins. So glad teaching is beginning well for you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be my busiest semester EVER. It's only been 1 week and I already feel wiped out. I have been making time for devotions every day, but usually they're rushed. I need to make it more of a priority.
ReplyDeleteWow, you really are so busy!! And I don't know Jennifer, but I love her. Awesome!!
