On My Side

I had heard a song a while back that for some reason was playing through my mind this morning.

It's called "You Are On Our Side"- (It will come later)- But it made me think- Who has been on my side through this whole thing, cheering me on, supporting and encouraging me?

(I won't use names for privacy reasons)

-My family- They've really pulled through and have supported me so much in so many ways through my struggles.

-My Counselor, D. While after some therapy sessions I wanted to throw in the towel and give up, and there was a time where I was fed up with what she was having me do that she encouraged I start seeing someone else, I prevailed and she stuck with me through the last 8 months. I am doing okay without her so far this summer.

-My Psychiatrist, Dr. B. She is phenomenal- I highly respect her and value every minute I can glean information from her. I see her again in a few weeks.

-My Group Therapist, Dr. K. He always makes me laugh and provides new insights I never would have thought have before.

-My Group Therapy Members- Because of confidentiality contracts, I can't list names/genders here, but they were amazing in therapy, and we are still keeping in touch, cheering each other on through messages on FB and other means.

-My ADA Counselor, P. He cheered me on and always made sure I was managing my school work wisely while facing the battle. He was always ready to intervene and stand up for me whenever I needed it. Also A, she also joined my team and was ready to support me in anyway she could, and also lend a listening ear.

-The Pastors I worked with- Pastor M, Pastor G, Pastor R, Pastor B- They provided more spiritual guidance, support, and prayers than what I ever could have asked for. I am so blessed to have had these 4  men in my life and I know I have built life-long relationships with them.

-My Professors- Dr. U, Dr. B, Prof. O, Prof. Z, Prof. B, Dr. G, Dr. O, Dr. H, Dr. E, Dr. W, Prof. G, Prof. P, Prof. K- And sorry if I missed someone, but I had a LOT of professors I could go and unload on and they offered the best support I could have ever asked for. They are all amazing, and have truly become my friends and my supporters.

-My Friends- And I mean those friends who never gave up on me. Who walked in when the rest of the world walked out. I am not even going to begin to use letters, because this page would fill up- I have so many amazing friends and colleagues- you are all awesome! Those of you I know and those of you I don't!

I am sorry if I left anyone out- but there is one person who has been on my side and has been far more faithful and loyal than anyone here on earth-

Yes, God has been on my side this entire time. He has been faithful. Even during the times I was angry at Him, didn't recognize His existence, was not faithful, and was not understanding, He stuck with me and I can still feel His hand guiding me and saying, "It'll be alright. I'm still with you."

Unfortunately, not everyone is on my side- there are those 3-4 who continue to try and bring me down. And there's Satan too. If you are one of them and are reading this- read through how many people are FOR me, and who are willing to STICK WITH ME, and you will see you are far outnumbered. There is obviously something wrong with YOU because YOU are in the minority. As in the video, when the widow's oppressors are silenced by Jesus, on her side, so mine are silenced and I am safe in the arms of Jesus.

Reminds me of the Lyrics to the hymn, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms"

  1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms;
    What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.
    • Refrain:
      Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
      Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
  2. What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms?
    I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Thank God for being on my side.

How about you, whose side are you on?

Blessings:
-I got a letter and I WAS AWARDED A SCHOLARSHIP! =D =D =D

-Cutting up fresh strawberries

-Hearing a story of reconciliation

-Selling stuff on Amazon!

-Looking in the mirror and feeling confident!

-I finished reading "I Am Number Four" this afternoon and then saw the movie tonight- AMAZING! (But the book was far better than the movie!)

-Topping off the night with a raspberry strawberry smoothie!

PS- You can see pictures of the service I played for last night here. You can see the back of my head in the top one- exactly to the immediate left of the "Mission Central" banner.

  1. Love it! I'm so glad you have so many people in your life who have been willing & able to support you through this, and also that you've allowed yourself to go to these people and not shunned their help. That's just as awesome.
