Blessed To Be A Blessing

I am not sure if I have written about the above title before, but tonight's Ascension service was all about being blessed and being a blessing.

You would think that Ascension (Jesus' return to heaven) would leave us sad.

No. Because we are blessed! Why did He go to heaven? To prepare a place for us! (John 14!)

And we are blessed to be blessings to others.

I don't know whether anyone would consider me a blessing to them, but I try to be to everyone I encounter- friends, coworkers, classmates, professors, family, neighbors, even my enemies.

The word "blessing" is thrown around a lot- some say, "God bless you" to someone who sneezes, and I often end my posts with blessings in my life.

But, do I belong on that list? I try, but I feel like I often fail.

I am not quite sure what this post is supposed to convey- other than the fact that tonight I was reassured how blessed I really am, and encouraged/motivated me to be a big blessing to others!

Blessings:
-Blowing up a giant Hippo for VBS

-Finding a deal on Ebay

-I played organ tonight for a district Ascension service- the meal beforehand, I was at a table with probably 20 pastors, and my good friend Gary. It was a great meal of smoked pork loin and potluck!

-I met a Pastor who was a CUNE grad, and we had great conversations- even became hysterical talking about some things he remembered that were still taking place!

-Many compliments and, "I'm going to set it up so you can play organ at our church!" after the service.

-Driving home smiling thinking about how stinking blessed I am and trying to think of ways to be a blessing to those in my life- everyone.

  5. A change in username & picture! I've never been able to figure out your old username, by the way - I'm aware it had 'dylan' in the middle of it but am confused by cu/dylan/t (and for a while I read it as Cudy Lant but I'm pretty certain that's not right!) - only thing I can think of is that you cleverly 'cut' the word 'cut' with your name.. but even if that's it then I'm still confused. Soo..uhh..can you explain? Am I being really stupid??

  6. Giant hippo?? AWESOME!

There's a line from a song that comes to mind whenever I hear or read the word "blessing" -- "We will choose to be a blessing for life."
I don't remember the song or the artist, but it always pops up whenever I think of blessings. You cuold probably Google it... :)
And yes, I'd say you're a blessing to a lot of people--including me! And I've never even met you face to face! (Though I've figured out that we're probably only a couple of states apart!)

And JM--you're not alone in that confusion... But that doesn't mean you're being stupid! :D

@JM & Becca- Well, okay- I went to a cuniversity- CUNE- (CU for short)

Hence- CU= (University); DYLAN= (Name); T= (First Letter of Last Name)

    Make sense?
